On the behalf or WBMS PTA, WBMS parents, and faculty members, we are very excited to announce our continued support of Teachers Curing Kids’ Cancer. In conjunction with Clay & Grainne Owen, parents of Killian Owen, and many concerned parents and teachers, we offered for the first time anywhere the opportunity for teachers to join coaches in curing kids’ cancer. By choosing to make a donation in your teacher’s name, you will be endorsing the idea of students and parents choosing to honor teachers via a donation in lieu of a gift. Just like so many coaches, teachers and parents at WBMS will begin this effort on behalf of teachers and parents everywhere to make a difference and to “pay it forward.”

As Easy As 1,2,3!

An individual or the class may donate money for the teacher’s gift – it could be a birthday/holiday/end-of-year gift.

An individual or the room mom can make an on-line donation at the website: www.curingkidscancer.org OR you can send in your donation by mail using the donation form on the website.

Teachers Curing Kids’ Cancer sends the individual or the room mom a certificate to present to the teacher explaining that a donation has been made in his/her honor

What Is Teachers Curing Kids’ Cancer?

Teachers Curing Kids’ Cancer is an expansion of the original fundraising program called Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer, which was inspired by the bravery, joy and hope shown by Grainne and Clay’s son, Killian Owen.  Killian was one of their twin boys who died at the age of nine in July, 2003 having battled leukemia for nearly four years.  Teachers Curing Kids’ Cancer is a great new way for children to honor their teacher with a meaningful gift, and at the same time, make a donation to help find a cure for pediatric cancer.   The money that is donated goes to fund the research and development of new treatments at your local childhood cancer center.

A Life Changing Gift
A decision to endorse Teachers Curing Kids’ Cancer becomes a decision to join a team of families, doctors, nurses, and researchers all working together to find a cure for childhood cancer - in our lifetime.  Your children will learn to “pay it forward” to children who really need their help.  Coaches Curing Kids’ Cancer has already raised approximately $130,000 in a year with 1,300 sports teams and their coaches participating throughout Georgia.  Now help us to support Teachers Curing Kids’ Cancer.  Allow your students to give a really meaningful gift that has the power to grant Killian’s wish…..give kids with cancer the chance to have a normal healthy life!
